wedded bunny bliss.

i had a wedding to attend this weekend!  it was actually the first of my friends weddings that i was able to attend, so i was very excited.  and i got to dress up with my dude!  bonus!

anyway, i felt bad about the gift that i'd gotten them.  i learned from my dad that photo frames were awesome wedding gifts, then i realized everyone else probably thought the same thing.  not very original, i suppose.  so i decided since i've been feeling crafty as of late, i'd do my best to make a little something more original than the silver frame that they'd probably get ten of.

it's a free pattern, but you may have to sign up.  occasionally they'll send you emails about yarn, but that's it.  not too bad.

i won't bore you with crochet talk, and it was pretty simple.  i did have to cut the brides arms off and make some more.  it sucks to have to cut off the arms of the bride!  but i had over stuffed them and they looked really silly.

my only deviation from the pattern was the flowers.  they were just so tiny and i couldn't get them to flower up!  i had planned on using the pearls because i thought the pattern was just plain, and was going yo go with the flowers when i saw them.  but oh well!  hayley was wearing pearls with her dress anyway!

bunny heads!

stacking up.

with bodies!

and arms!  that's the bride's second pair.  :P

finally looking like bunnies!

together in wedded bliss!  :D

these were too cute!  i'm gonna make some easter ones if i get some spare time.  maybe just some bunny girls in easter dresses, little yellow dresses.  yes.  this will be great.  if i remember to do it.

an owl craft.

i know it's been so long since i've posted here at the bugglette's blog.  i had a hard time coming up with things to blog about since you could get all the shop info and updates through the facebook page.  i've decided since i'm a crafty girl (and will be till i die!  you'll pry this glue gun from my cold dead hands!) that i'll just post about the patterns and projects that i'm working on and things that you can try yourself!

for the past two days i've been working on crochet owls.  the real bug wants a labyrinth themed birthday party, so we've decided to go for the ballroom scene with pearls, crystal balls, lights and owls.

in case you haven't seen it.  but it's the greatest movie ever, so
go watch it on netflix if you haven't!
i am an owl collector, so i have a big selection of owl figurines that i can lend to the theme, but i wanted something she could keep, so i decided to find a cute animuguri owl for the party.  here's the pattern.  it's a free ravelry download, you have to sign up but if your a crochet or knit fanatic it's an awesome resource for cool patterns.  it has a knit and crochet version, i went for the crochet.  i was sad when i looked at the pattern and it didn't mention a size, but the picture looked to be a decent size and it was a simple pattern so i went for it.

he's cute really.

he wasn't nearly the size i wanted him.  D:

so i fiddled with the pattern and math-ed at it a little bit and figured something out.

see the difference?

he's much bigger and more cuddly, but as you can tell he's a little more squat, he's kinda short and fat compared to the small version.  he's still pretty adorable though.

i'm gonna try this pattern one more time.  i got thick and chunky yarn and i'm going to work the pattern as is with a bigger hook and see if i can't just make him bigger but still keep the shape.  i'll post on that when he's finished.  it only took me about an hour to work the original pattern, so i'll probably crank him out tomorrow sometime.

anyway, i decided to keep the little one in my craft box as a pin cushion.  he will be the guardian of my last remaining yarn needle so i don't lose it on the middle of a ball of yarn or something.

don't worry.  he's been thoroughly trained
for the job.

finally a non-rage filled hat!

hello my precious bugglette's!

today's blog is, yet again, about that crochet hat that i was going to conquer.

I FINALLY CONQUERED IT.

in fact, i've made a total of 4 crochet hats since my last blog of horrible rage!

the first one, while totally correct, was just too baggy for my head.  again, the pattern was made by a person with much more hair than me, so it was totally okay to be hang-y on them.  but here it is:

see?  all floppy.

luckily, i finally found those magical rows that needed to be removed to lessen the slouchy to fit my short hair cut.

rawr!

cute, huh?

same hat in pink!

and just a little bit of slouch in the back.

i also made a tiny pink hat for bug, but i haven't gotten any picture of her in it yet.  it's still a hat, so she can't wear it to school.  i have to wait for some sort of outing to get her in her hat.

but that's all for now little bugaboos.  i was just so excited!

craft rage!

yes.  i have been hit with the rage.

i have been trying to crochet a hat for the past four days.  so far, i've unraveled three hats.

i told you guys about the awesome hat from spencer's.  well, i finally gave in and bought it because i couldn't find a pattern i liked or that seemed simple enough for me to recreate.  i still felt bad though for spending the like, twelve dollars or so (after my discount), since it looks so easy to make but i just can't decipher the pattern!

my hat is cute, though.  :B

so i've been trying pattern after pattern after pattern.  the first two came out right, but were just way too big.  these patterns were designed by people with lots of hair.  if you have long hair the hat can hang down and be more floppy.  but i don't have that much hair on my head, so if my hat is too floppy it just looks like it doesn't fit.  D:

the one i made today came out right, but i couldn't get the hat to tighten up and close at the top.  i think the hook i used was too big, so the hat was too thick to close properly.  i'm in the middle of doing it again with a smaller hook.  i don't actually have the right gauge that the pattern calls for, but this one is closer, so hopefully it'll work out right and won't be to floppy. . .

but oh, the horrible rage i feel every time i have to unravel it and roll it all back into a yarn ball!  i just want to throw it in the fireplace and never deal with it again!

it's currently 3:32 am and i am staying up until this yarn ball turns into a hat.

a crochet blog!

hello, my little bugaboos!

so i've been crocheting the past couple of days.  i was trying to crochet a slouchy beret, we have them in at spencer's, but if i can make it it would save me about twelve dollars!  i did find a cute pattern for snowflake beret, very openwork and pretty, but i came across a bunch of stitches that i didn't understand.  but in the first three or four rounds, i accidentally made a floppy flower!  put together another floppy flower and made this:

not too bad, but it did inspire me to find a free use pattern for a better flower.  finally found one on youtube, as far as i know it's free use, it doesn't say otherwise (i always check my patterns, especially if i'm trying to make new stuff for bugglettes) but i'm gonna double check on it before i put anything in the shop.   it literally takes about five minutes to make one of these, so i've make about fifteen and have just been layering them for different things, like hair clips and such.

while making these flowers, i used my thick scarf yarn and made a SUPER HUGE FLOWER.   it's a little too big and heavy for a hair clip, so i turned it into a headband/earwarmer!

on me it's an ear warmer, like earmuffs without the muffs.  :B

but on somebody with a lot of hair, like long thick hair that could hold up to the thickness of this thing, it could easily be pushed behind the ears and worn as a thick headband and the weight of the hair in the back would hold it in place.

but seriously, look at that flower!  it's huge!  better pics should be up on the facebook page tomorrow (hopefully)!
